BASIS Ed Texas is hosting Student Teachers to compete their clinical teaching hours and work alongside a fabulous mentor teacher at one of our campuses in either the San Antonio or Austin Metro Areas for the 2023-2024 SY!

Student Teacher Overview
As a BASIS Ed Texas student teacher, you will have the opportunity to learn the BASIS Charter School curriculum, programs, and campus culture. This program will prepare you for a full-time classroom teacher or other educational role.
Student Teachers will provide direct instruction to students, assist with issues or tasks relating to the well-being of our students, and assist their mentor teacher in maintaining a strong, positive, achievement-oriented school culture.
Primary Activities:
In addition, dependent on each campus, Student Teachers may engage in any or all of the following while following their University/Educator Program Guidelines:
* Classroom teaching
* Assisting teachers with classroom management
* Student academic support and tutoring
* Assisting classroom teachers with events, labs, and testing
* Working with teachers in evaluating student progress, needs, and gains
* Monitoring and managing students’ non-scheduled time, including Early Bird and Late Bird supervision and Lunch Monitor responsibilities
* Monitoring and managing study groups
* Coordinating homework and assignments for absent students
* Assisting with managing student behavior and discipline

* Strong belief in and adherence to the BASIS Charter School academic program and school model
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to exercise excellent judgment and decision making
* Ability to work with diverse constituents while maintaining the highest professional standards
* Exemplary organizational skills; ability to establish and manage multiple priorities; ability to work under pressure
* Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy
Minimum Qualifications:
* Current Junior or Senior/ Graduate Student
* Ability to work full time for the required weeks of clinical teaching hours
* Willingness to be considered for other campuses other than the original desired campus
* Willingness to acquire and maintain current practices in both subject matter knowledge and BASIS Charter School teaching methodologies
Additional Job Information:
Benefits and Salary: The stipend awarded for this opportunity if placed is $5,000 per semester.
