POSITION SUMMARY
The role of the Mandarin Teaching fellow is to ensure the day-to-day exceptional education of students by preparing and facilitating subject specific lesson plans. Teachers implement the established BASIS Curriculum while tailoring specific topics to integrate their knowledge and passion for the subject as well as other duties as assigned.
SAMPLE MANDARIN COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This is a course in Mandarin Chinese that is designed for Kindergarten through 3rd grade students. In this course, students will develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills using simplified characters. Students will increase their capacity for creative thinking and problem-solving skills and gain an appreciation of other cultures and a deeper understanding of their own culture. The class will be taught through essential real-life themes and topics that concern students’ personal lives and their immediate environment such as family, school, and community. The course will use innovative ideas and a range of engaging strategies to teach younger children Chinese such as coloring, pictures, games, music, story-telling, and hands on activities to captivate interest levels and keep up the motivation to learn Chinese. Students will also be introduced to the social and cultural aspects of the language to prepare students to function in the real world in a culturally appropriate manner.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree is required
- Ability to work full time
- Willingness to be considered for other campuses other than the original desired campus
- Willingness to acquire and maintain current practices in both subject matter knowledge and BASIS Charter School teaching methodologies
Additional Job Information:
Benefits and Salary: The salary range for this position is $33,000 - $35,000 dependent on education and experience. BASIS.ed offers a comprehensive benefits package.
