The Finance Director is responsible for meeting the Finance Department’s reporting requirements and leading the Department to provide meaningful, relevant and timely analytical support to achieve BASIS.ed’s overall goals

Minimum Qualifications and Preferred Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or advanced degree a plus.
  • Experience: 5 - 7 years of relevant experience in a similar role including supervisory responsibility and demonstrated success in hiring, training and mentoring.
  • Experience with tax-exempt financing and education industry highly desired.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office - must have advanced proficiency with MS Excel. Sage/Intacct experience a plus.
  • Compensation: Salary for this position is competitive and dependent on education and experience.

Essential Functions Statement

  • Hire, train, supervise, lead and mentor the Finance Department team.
  • Lead the annual operating and capital budgeting process for BASIS Charter Schools Inc. and collaborate with School Management and others to identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Collaborate with Accounting and other Divisions to meet reporting requirements of various agencies and authorities for bonds, loans, budgets, financial reports, grants, audits and AUPs.
  • Actively participate in deal teams to secure financing for new charter schools.
  • Analyze financial results, prepare quarterly financial reports and variance analyses for Charter Board meetings.
  • Monitor and analyze schools’ performance to budget and work with school leaders and others to proactively identify and address significant variances.
  • Analyze opportunities for new schools and provide pro forma analysis and decision support to Growth, School Management and other Divisions.
  • Monitor capital projects and proactively identify variances to budget.
  • Document policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
