BASIS.ed is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join its team!

BASIS.ed is growing and seeking a strategic finance professional for BASIS.ed. BASIS.ed provides comprehensive education management services to BASIS charter schools and other entities. The BASIS.ed CFO oversees the accounting and finance functions for BASIS.ed and provides strategic guidance and support to leadership to achieve objectives for continued growth and profitability. The successful candidate will provide leadership and coordination of financial planning, debt financing, and budget management functions and ensure accounting procedures and reporting conform to generally accepted accounting principles and other applicable requirements. The ideal candidate will have meaningful experience in for-profit and nonprofit accounting and capital markets. We are looking for an individual with strong character, the energy and capacity to get the job done and the experience to lead and mentor a growing organization. The CFO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of all aspects of the for-profit and nonprofit accounting and finance functions
  • Oversight of financial analysis and planning to promote continued financial viability and assess opportunities for growth
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to leadership and key clients to support ongoing growth initiatives, including access to capital markets
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate, relevant, and timely quarterly financial reports and variance analyses for management and the various Charter School Boards of Directors
  • Defines and implements key performance indicators and strategic objectives; facilitates measurement and reporting of those objectives
  • Oversight all financial aspects of employee benefits plans, analyzing costs, risks and providing strategic analysis and guidance
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth, process improvement and profitability growth
  • Collaborate with business leaders to prepare annual budgets, analyze results and ensure reporting needs are met
  • Develops and fosters effective working relationships with all key stakeholders including school leaders, executive team members, clients and regulatory agencies
  • Ensure compliance with service agreements, debt covenant compliance and continuing disclosure requirements
  • Cash flow forecasting and liquidity management
  • Monitor and oversee investments including 401k and debt service reserve funds
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices, including but not limited to tax laws, generally accepted accounting principles, federal acquisition regulations, and other accounting and reporting standards
  • Ensure adequate internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate risk; effectively identify and address non-compliance as required
  • Manage staff with responsibility and accountability for performance and results

Minimum Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or advanced degree a plus
  • 10 - 15 years of financial management and team leadership experience
  • Previous experience as Chief Financial Officer of an organization of similar size ($200M+ revenue; $300M+ debt; 2,000+ employees)
  • Experience with Education industry and CMOs or EMOs highly desired
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficient in Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated success in leadership, hiring, training and mentoring
