Job Description


The Capital Project Manager reports to the VP of Operations. The position is responsible for developing the capital improvement plan & overseeing the project management of our schools and the central office locations. The position requires an individual knowledgeable in construction, both ground-up, and repair/replace projects. The individual must be comfortable giving direction to vendors and working with school/office staff related to the construction and construction management for all types of capital improvements. The position requires working with a team of peers within the organization as well as service providers to establish budgets and manage work to successful completion. This position also requires the ability to communicate effectively and keep accurate records through various technology systems, including SharePoint, Intacct, MS Teams, MS Office, Confluence, and other systems as required, training provided.


  • Preparation of capital assessment data and improvement budgets
  • Manage the facility needs for the central offices
  • Updating of various tracking systems for construction & financial management
  • Contract management including document preparation guidance and review; lead bid process of contract services and construction work - preliminary bid analysis
  • Review & approve invoices for payment and approval.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring new budget requests are completed timely, new projects are started and managed with a sense of urgency, and completed projects are closed out on time and within budget.
  • Manage expectations and logistics of multiple vendors across various locations while ensuring that building standards and building policies/procedures are followed.
  • Create "scope of work" documents for contracting in lieu of architectural plans when necessary and appropriate.
  • Track and record all critical path information related to capital improvement projects assigned.
  • Develop and enhance relationships with school leaders and work to support their unique school needs.
  • Create milestone timelines for projects and ensure completion dates are realistic and achievable.

  • Outside of Arizona - Minimum of twice time per year (as needed to support active projects)
  • Within Arizona - As needed for proper oversight of capital improvements/assessments

  • Must work well under deadlines; prioritize workflow as needed
  • Detail-oriented; able to handle multiple projects with extreme professionalism.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to discreetly handle confidential and time-sensitive information


Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
Certifications and Credentials: PMP preferred

Experience: 2+ years of construction management
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office - must have proficiency with MS Excel, Teams, & Outlook. Experience with Concur, Intacct, SharePoint, and Confluence is a plus.
