Spring Software Developer Internship

BASIS.ed is looking for up to four Software Developers, Programmers, DBA. This would be an ongoing internship program starting January 2017.

Job Responsibilities might include but are not limited to: 

• Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

• Filter, sort, review data, reports and performance indicators to locate and correct possible issues with the coding

• Help determine efficient data structures to ensure optimal performance in an SQL and possibly NoSQL database

• Work with other teams to help model their data to be stored in and SQL and possibly NoSQL database

• Work closely with Data Management and Analytics to automate the ETL process of data from various sources/systems into a NoSQL database

• Clean, maintain data and database integrity

• Manage roles and permission settings regarding data users

• Provide reports on demand

• Help with systems syncs and integrations

• PowerSchool SIS customization

• Help implement systems across BASIS.ed

Key Competencies: 

• Prefer graduates or students in their senior year with or working towards a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Information System Management or Information Technology

Proficiency using Excel.

• Working knowledge of JavaScript, JSON or ability to learn quickly.

• Experience with one or more of the following: data models, database development, application development, database migration.

• Knowledge of or experience with SQL, XML, ETL and Document-Oriented Databases (NoSQL).

• Strong communication skills and attention to detail and accuracy, quick learner, proactive, problem solver, self-starter.

 • Adept at queries and learning new query languages

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Some knowledge or experience with MongoDB.

 • Some knowledge or experience with the Unix/Linux environment – Preferably CentOS or RedHat.

• Some knowledge or experience with Student Information Systems.

• Some knowledge or experience with REST API

Salary: Salary for this position is competitive and dependent on education and experience.
