Attendance Bonus

Each teacher receives 5 personal days annually (in addition to the 24 shutdown days annually). If you do not utilize the days, you are eligible to earn up to $1200 at the conclusion of the academic school year!

Purvi Gordon

VP of HR/Talent Acquisition


Purvi was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She attended the University of Arizona where she obtained a double degree in both elementary and special education. After years of teaching, she also pursued and obtained a master’s degree in educational psychology & counseling.

Purvi has recently joined the BASIS Texas Charter Schools network. Prior to coming to BASIS, Purvi served in numerous roles at a local, high-performing Charter School and was formerly a special education & math teacher in Arizona. In her most recent role as Managing Director of Staffing & HR, Purvi focused on driving multiple initiatives to help foster sustainability, community, and growth in education. She is eager to jump into her role at BASIS Ed Texas, and to help grow our schools from 6 to many more in the upcoming years!

Andrea Tressler

HR Business Partner/Recruiter


Andrea Tressler, a native of Edinburg, Texas, is an experienced educator and human resources professional. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations from the University of Texas-Pan American in 2010.

Her journey in education began in 2012 as an English Language Arts teacher for 4th and 5th graders at St. Matthew's Episcopal School. After a successful teaching career, she joined IDEA Public Schools in 2016 as a founding teacher, where she taught 6th and 7th grade English Language Arts.

n 2018, Andrea transitioned to the field of Human Resources, starting as an HR Intern and rising to become the Director of Human Resources within three years. Throughout her HR career, she focused on creating a supportive and thriving work environment for staff.

In her spare time, Andrea enjoys spending quality moments with her husband, Eddie, and their three wonderful kids—Olivia, Jolie, and Cinco. Family is a top priority for Andrea, and she cherishes the time spent together, creating precious memories.

Andrea joined BASIS Ed Texas in 2021, where she remains dedicated to empowering individuals and cultivating a conducive atmosphere for staff growth and success. With her dedication to education and her commitment to family, Andrea is a valuable asset to the BASIS Ed Texas community.

Candice Hoyle

Talent Recruiter


Candice was raised in Trinidad & Tobago, but born in North Carolina. She loves to hike and write poetry. Candice graduated from the University of Arizona in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Economy & Industry with a concentration in Human Resources.

Candice is passionate to be a part of removing barriers that exist for all students seeking and gaining resources to obtain a postsecondary degree. Supporting student success and progression in life is her success! She has been a part of the BASIS Ed Texas Talent Acquisition team since Fall 2021 and is now serving as our University Relations Manager. Previously, Candice worked in other rigorous and fast-growing Charter schools, served in multiple HR roles for Amphitheater Public School District and Catalina Foothills School District in Arizona as well as worked for the federal and local government in Virginia. Candice’s priorities on the BASIS Ed Texas HR/Talent Acquisition team involves forming strong talent pipelines, providing campus hiring support, and spear heading our Student Teaching/Observation program. She is excited to continue her journey at BASIS Ed Texas!

Heather Polonsky

Talent Recruiter


Heather was born and raised in the Washington, DC area. She attended the University of Maryland where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature. Shortly after, she went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Teaching. Before joining the BASIS Texas Charter Schools network as a recruiter, Heather enjoyed life as a BASIS English teacher.

When she’s not recruiting, Heather enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband and visiting Disney World.

Heather believes her passion for teaching and BASIS Ed schools will inspire many prospective teachers to come join our exuberant BASIS Texas network of schools!

Yvonne Nzeakor


Yvonne, a native of Dallas, Texas, enjoys shopping and exploring new restaurants during her leisure time. She graduated from Texas State University in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education.

Yvonne has recently joined the BASIS Ed Texas Talent Acquisition team as a Recruiter, after previously working as a 5th Grade Reading and Science teacher. After teaching Yvonne worked for a small technical recruitment firm. With her extensive experience in teaching and recruitment, Yvonne is committed to ensuring recruitment, hiring, and retention are top priorities for the BASIS Ed Texas Talent Acquisition team. She is thrilled to continue her journey with BASIS Ed Texas!

Patrick Carson


A graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, Patrick has served in both private and public schools in the San Antonio area for over twenty-five years, both as a teacher and school administrator. He also coached basketball at the middle school level for many years. The father of two children, Patrick enjoys hiking, basketball and football, and is a big movie buff. Patrick joined the BASIS network in 2017 as part of the BASIS San Antonio Primary-Medical Center staff, before moving over to the BASIS San Antonio Shavano campus as the Dean of Students for the Lower School Program. Patrick served back at the Medical Center campus from 2019 as the Director of Academic Programs, Dean of Students, and Director of Student Affairs. Patrick recently joined the BASIS ed Texas central office, where he will serve as the HR Business Partner. He is very excited for this new chapter in his BASIS journey as he serves our Texas campuses.

Sydney Parker


California native with an adventurous spirit and an insatiable curiosity for life. A Texas A&M-San Antonio alumna, she embodies the perfect blend of wanderlust and passion for trying new things. Whether it's exploring new restaurants or exploring hiking spots with her dog Chicken.

Her love for the color blue reflects the calm and open-minded approach she brings to every aspect of life. As an HR enthusiast, she finds joy in putting the "human" back into Human Resources.
